LOT 45 Magnificent Victorian Gilt Bronze 8-Light Gasolier purchased by the consignor from the Grand Union Hotel, Saratoga Springs, New York in 1952 original photographs in situ included 45" diameter, 50" high circa 1875 The Grand Union Hotel on Broadway in Saratoga Springs, New York was built in 1802 by Gideon Putnam. A luxury hotel that catered to the wealthy elite, following the opening of Saratoga Race Course in 1863, renovations and expansions to the hotel saw it grow to 824 rooms and become the then largest hotel in the world. condition: frame is in excellent original condition with original gilt bronze surface. Prisms and other crystal elements with typical chips, losses and replacements. Shades all matching and apparently original. Previously installed for gas, but not fired up in many years. SOLD $31,000

LOTS 80-86 Margaret Bourke-White Original File Photos for the NBC Mural In 1933 RCA asked Bourke-White to create a monumental photomural focusing on the radio industry. It was installed in the public rotunda of NBC Studios at Rockefeller Center in New York. In the photographs, she zoomed in on radio components. Because of the shape of the lobby, the mural was laid out in two sections, with a total circumference of 160 feet. In the center of each section the largest and least abstract photographs represented the main components of radio-a studio microphone on one side and radio tubes on the other. At the beginning and end of each section were four different views of a radio transmission antenna. When installed, it was the largest photomural in the world, and it remained on display until the early 1950s. The image at top shows the installation. The offered photos were all from the NBC files, some with notes verso.
